Mechanical Designer (Solidworks)

The Job

As part of Septentrio System Product Development team, you will be contributing to the mechanical design and engineering of new products, from idea and concept generation to prototyping, technical elaboration and production start-up. You will have a central role, managing all production-drawings and release procedures.

 

Your Mission

You will use Solidworks, create concept models, virtual prototypes, and work-models for manufacturing. Subsequently, you will produce detailed technical drawings, such as part drawings and quality inspection drawings. You also will create models that are parametric, with design intent, and a neat model tree. You will check their compliance with DfM, DfA, and DfT. Additionally, you will assist DFMEA, Produce detailed requisition lists for procurement (BOM’s) and create the technical assembly drawings.

You will create and update 3D models and specifications within the Product Data Management system (PDM). Additionally, workflows are to be established for the release and management of items in the library. Furthermore, you will focus on creating and updating an electronics library specifically for mechanical components in Circuitworks.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues, for example Production and external partners for organizing improvements in the Product Data Management system. You also will create and update user manuals for both Solidworks and PDM users. You will review drawings and models to ensure alignment with the defined standards.

 

Your Qualifications

You have a Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering, or similar. You have proven experience in Solidworks, Creo, or Inventor, coupled with experience in a Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Your technical background equips you with proficiency in designing based on common production methods such as sheet metal forming, milling/turning, casting, and 3D printing. The ability to create clear and accurate 3D models is a fundamental requirement for your role. You are the ideal candidate if you have experience in Circuitworks. You have a preference for an organized digital work environment. With a critical mindset and an assertive attitude, you exhibit a hands-on mentality. As a team player, you actively show initiative, flexibility, and effective communication skills.
